Philanthropy Facts & Figures
Over the last 25 years, the field of philanthropy has grown exponentially – from 22,000 foundations in 1980 to over 71,000 foundations today. This philanthropic growth has been accompanied by an expansion of both volunteer leaders and professional staff and increased attention to the practice of grantmaking.
The Forum, regional associations, and other organizations across the country respond to this need by offering a variety of educational resources to help inform the public about regional philanthropy.
Overall, these resources help to increase the knowledge of charitable individuals and institutions, prospective donors and advisors, public policy advisors, the media, researchers, and others about philanthropic trends and their impact.
