Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

The Forum continually seeks partnerships within the field of philanthropy to provide members with learning opportunities and programming that you can then offer to your member grantmakers. Over the years, we’ve worked closely with Grantmakers for Effective Organizations to develop a variety of ways for regional associations to partner with GEO. While we will continue to announce via email special initiatives that may be of interest to you as they emerge, opportunities to work with GEO or have them present content in your region exist on an ongoing basis. These opportunities are outlined below along with the associated costs, which vary by membership status in GEO. Clink on the links for more information about each program. If you have any questions, please contact Jason Twiss, GEO’s manager of member engagement, at twiss@geofunders.org or 202-898-1841.

Workshops – GEO’s workshops are three to four hour long sessions around a topic with a pre-arranged curriculum and led by third-party experts. GEO and the regional association would split the delivery and facilitation costs in half, unless the regional association is a GEO member and these costs are waived. GEO also requests that the regional association cover any space rental fees (if applicable) and catering costs.

Seminars – GEO’s seminars are two-day, intensive courses on a topic with a pre-arranged curriculum and led by third-party experts and GEO. These are available only to GEO-member regional associations and are offered at no cost, except for space rental fees (if applicable).

Presentations – GEO staff members are available to speak and present on a wide range of current trends in philanthropy, drawing from GEO’s research and practice. Topics vary by year and presentations may take on various formats including:

- Keynote speech
- Breakout sessions
- Dialogue/Facilitated conversations

For most speaking engagements, GEO requests reimbursement for travel expenses and an honorarium to support our work.

For regional associations that are members of GEO, GEO will:

  • Waive any delivery or facilitation costs including speaker fees and honoraria.
  • Provide priority consideration for calendar dates
  • Provide the first right of refusal on new opportunities
  • Offer exclusive or discounted eligibility to participate in GEO events
  • Offer all other benefits available to GEO-member grantmakers. Visit http://geofunders.org/join for more information.

If you or your organization is interested in exploring any of these opportunities and bringing GEO to your region, please contact Jason Twiss, GEO’s manager of member engagement, at twiss@geofunders.org or 202-898-1841.
