Keep Partisan Politics Out of the Charitable Sector

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

The Forum is a partner in a national collaborative initiative that spans the nonprofit sector. The Initiative is intended to lift our voice in support of nonpartisanship and in opposition to the repeal of the Johnson Amendment.  We have engaged both our national and regional members and today we issued a press release  highlighting our united  stance. We have also asked our members to engage their Congressional Representatives now and next week when they return home to their districts, ensuring that our opposition to the propose changes are heard loud and clear.

This broad-based coalition has formed to protect a cornerstone of the 501(c)(3) community, its ability to solve problems in localities across the country by bringing people together without the rancor of partisan politics getting in the way. The initiative seeks to protect the current law (known as the Johnson Amendment) that ensures 501(c)(3) organizations remain nonpartisan and focused on mission instead of partisan politics.
