Fast Forward: Patrick Troska
Minnesota Council on Foundations

The latest episode of MCF's podcast series features Patrick Troska is the Executive Director at the Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation of Minnesota. Foundations Need Capacity, Too
TCC Group

For many years, the social sector has paid substantial attention to the issue of nonprofit effectiveness. By contrast, comparatively little attention has been paid to the capacities that foundations themselves need to achieve impact. This report looks at the aggregate results from 54 participating foundations that took the  Foundation Core Capacity Assessment Tool (FCCAT) to assess their foundation’s capacity.

Mapping the Journey to Impact Investing
Surdna Foundation

The Surdna Foundation is currently celebrating its centennial year. Part of that celebration was an announcement it will allocate $100 million of its endowment to impact investing as a way to advance its social justice mission and grow the field. The commitment will focus on a combination of mission-related investments (MRI) and program-related investments (PRI), along with a variety of other impact investing strategies. As part of its investment, Surdna seeks to share its experience with others thinking about impact investing through this publication. It charts the foundation's journey from the time the Board of Directors and staff began exploring impact investing in 2014 to the decision-making process and experience of implementing impact investing policies.
